How to tell the difference between a Cold and the Flu

The autumn and winter means too many Thanksgiving and Christmas. This time of year also brings sore throats and runny noses. Most of us will suffer from a cold or the flu during the winter. Keep in mind the fly can be a lot more severe and even life threatening. I want share some things to help you learn the difference between a cold and the flu to help your fall and winter be a healthier time.

Mom helping Sick DaughterThe Common cold is caused from the rhinovirus, like other viruses the rhinovirus has no cute. A virus infiltrates a cell and rewrites the DNA to mimic the virus. From there it continues to replicate these viral cells.

Family Dinners Are Important

Not sure about where you are but there is always commercials reminding us about the importance of family dinners.

Tonight it reminded me why, See we have dinners together every night DH is only missing when he is working that is the only time someone is missing. The boys both know that at dinner time your at the table if your eating or not. To me this 30+ minutes of the day is set aside from everything just to talk and discuss what is going on. Sometimes the conversations are silly, sometimes serious no matter the talk it helps us stay connected and keep the openness between us and the children.

Tips for Reading to Your Toddler

I’m sure we all know reading is one of the most important skills your child will learn. This skill is something we all use each and every day. However getting your toddler interested is not always easy to do; however, it will make her excited about learning how to read when the time comes.

When to Read

Reading TogetherA lot of parents choose bedtime to read to their children. Cuddling while listening to a story is a favorite way to calm down from a long busy day. Doing this also provides a special bonding experience as well as creates wonderful memories.

Toddlers and Car Seats Not So Confusing

For many parents car seats can be a confusing topic. There are seats that are made for babies, some for toddlers then there is those that are made for both. Then the installation is different for each seat. Adding to the confusion is the car seat laws changing from state to state, no wonder we are all confused.

Lucky for us we have some help. The manufactures of car seats are required to make age as well as weight limits on the seats wehre they are easy to find. Every car seat on the market today has been held to strict governement standards. Getting a free car seat inspection is becoming more avalible to us all, even if you think its right its worth taking in to make sure it is installed correctly.

Deciding to Co-sleep Or Not

Dad Watching Baby SleepAt the time of bringing the new bundle of joy home mom is usually fairly rested because she had some help from the nursing staff at the hospital to take care of her baby and herself However, after she comes home, everything changes. In the past moms would put the baby in bed with them so she can get some rest. This is also called co-sleeping. Most parents stopped doing this for various reasons, but this practice is making a comeback. Now many moms are asking themselves, “Should we co-sleep?”

Less Then 100 Days Till Christmas

Ok Its true there is like 95 days until the big day. That’s a little over 3 months where in the world has the time gone this year.  It keeps flying by and those short 95 days will be gone before you know it.  The weather here already is starting to look like its coming.

While I was reading twitter today I came across this site. 100 Days To Christmas Its a neat little site with tips to help plan your Christmas holiday more efficiently and have everything finished in time. So if your like me kind of a procrastinator then I suggest you stop by and check things out.  This year with the help there I’m hoping to not be rushed at the end again like every other year.

Good Bye Summer 2008

Well  Today Sept 21 is the Last official day of 2008.  Should be a fun day in the sun celebrating what good things are out there and a day at the park having a nice picnic or something ourside.  Well here in Washington  that isn’t going to happen.  It is rainy and cloudy with from the looks of it no end in sight.

Today I planed a fun day out with the kiddos however this is going to change to a fun day in with them.  Baking cookies and making some play dough.  Gotta have something fun to do since it is Sunday a day that is set aside for our family time together.
