A few days ago I said i was going to do some research on getting my son active this summer doing something fun. I found some neat advice and ideas then I came across this and thought it would be worth sharing for other moms out there wondering what you can do with your teen this summer.
Tips to Curb Summertime Teen Laziness
Most of us enjoy a lazy day when we can sleep in, putz around and just relax a little – and our kids are no different. However, when the dog days of summer come, some teens take that one “couch out” day and stretch it over an entire summer break. Here are some tips to combat summertime teen laziness and keep your teen active and engaged.
I’m sure when we were kids one of our favorite things was playdough. It allows so much imagination and hours of creativity and fun. Playdough is still a favorite artistic medium of kids everywhere. Playdough can be used over and over again if kept in its container, or kids can let their creations dry and keep them.
1. Let the children make him a T-shirt with their handprints on it. The craft is very simple and your children will love the opportunity to create something special just for Dad. Find fabric paints in Dad’s favorite colors and purchase a 100% cotton T-shirt for each child to decorate. Put the fabric paint on a disposable plate and then have the children place their hands on the shirt. Follow washing instructions after the paint has dried. You may want to have the children sign and date the shirt so Dad can see how much the children have grown.
We hope, as parents, that what we’ve taught our children will be the guiding force behind them as they become teenagers. Unfortunately, that isn’t always the case, no matter how well we think we did. Before long, they begin to listen more to friends than to their parents. Do you know your teen’s friends, and why is it important that you do?
