Five Ways to Apply Glazes Successfully

You’ve created a beautiful piece of pottery. You’ve painstakingly hand built or thrown it, and perhaps carved an intricate design in it. Now all that’s left to do is glaze and fire it.

Glazing pottery can be accomplished in several ways. Here are the basics of each technique.

* Dipping – One of the simplest ways to glaze your pottery is to dip it. You simply put a medium-thick glaze into a container larger than the pottery and immerse your piece for a few seconds. This method is quick and easy, and it provides a nice, even coat. Another advantage of dipping is that it allows for the application of glaze to the outside of a pot and not the inside.

Direct Sales Business Tasks: Money Making Activity or Time Sucker?

There are so many aspects in running a successful direct sales business; it can get overwhelming if you let it. Do you find yourself continually running out of time and not getting anywhere in your business? If so, you are probably spending your time on “time suckers” instead of money making activities. How do we know what activities are time wasters and what are money making activities?

I knew you were going to ask so here’s a little evaluation or check system you can use to ensure you’re spending quality time building your business instead of wasting time on activities that are keeping your business at a standstill.

Be Aware of Wii Injuries

The Nintendo Wii has become one of the most popular gaming systems, due to the variety of active games it offers. Unfortunately, with the popularity of the system comes the possibility of overuse. If you own one, you might want to be aware of Wii injuries.

How are injuries received?

Injuries can occur whenever you’re active. If you run, and fail to stretch first, you can receive shin splints, sprains, strains, or tendonitis. Even if you’ve been active all your life and run regularly, you can still be injured.

Couch to 5k Exercise Plan

It’s no secret that running is a highly beneficial form of exercise. It provides a great workout for weight loss, toning and cardiac health. But many of us can’t run across the front yard without getting winded. This often leads to the mistaken belief that we just can’t be successful runners.

The truth is, almost anyone who can walk can run for exercise. Those of us who are out of shape just need to build up slowly but steadily. Too many people try to run long distances at top speed when starting out, and that only leaves them out of breath and makes them more susceptible to injury. A better approach is found in the Couch to 5k exercise plan.

Basic Pottery Tools

Pottery is a fulfilling hobby. The items you create can be very useful, or they can be beautiful works of art. Many pieces fit into both categories.

There are catalogs filled with nothing but pottery supplies. To those who are interested in giving it a try, this can be rather discouraging. But you don’t need an entire studio full of stuff to get started. Just some basic tools will be sufficient for your first projects. These include:

Games & Giveaways: Can They Really Increase Your Direct Sales Business?

The answer to this question could be yes and it could be no. Don’t you just love that clear cut answer?! Well let me explain why games and giveaways can benefit your business or how they can hurt your business.

The types of games we’re talking about here are the ones you play at your shows. For example, some consultants play games or offer giveaways at their shows for the person who drove the farthest, brought the most friends, is the oldest, youngest, married the longest, has the most kids, etc. While those games are fun, do they really benefit your business? Do they increase sales or entice people to host a show or even more importantly encourage potential new recruits to join the business? Maybe – Maybe not. (Another clear cut answer, right?)

Wii Games for All Ages

The Wii game console may have overtaken similar systems in popularity. Why, you may ask. One of the main reasons is that there are Wii games for all ages rather than having them geared for a specific age group. The following are some examples of Wii workout games that nearly the whole family can enjoy.

Parents often dislike computer games and gaming consoles because the only muscles that get a workout are the thumbs. Nintendo, in creating the Wii, has changed game consoles into an interactive system that can everyone can play from grandparents all the way down to preschoolers. And, instead of merely sitting and holding a controller, Wii games simulate sports such as bowling, baseball, soccer, yoga, and golf.
