Mom, Do You Want More Me Time?
By Aurelia Williams, author of Journey to Joy
Let’s see. You did the laundry, dropped the boys off at Karate and the girls at dance class, stopped at the grocery store for a few last minute dinner items…What’s missing? As you were taking care of everyone else all day long, did you remember to take care of yourself?
I know it can be hard to carve out space for you, since being a mom is a full time job, but taking care of yourself helps you have the strength and energy to keep taking care of everyone else, from your children to the snake your son left in the pocket of his dirty jeans. It’s all part of what I teach my Journey to Joy students. It IS possible to find the time to get what you need done.
Wordless Wednesday-Mom My Thumb Is STUCK

I signed up to take the family bowling using KidsBowlFree.com This is a cool program, you get coupons for your child to bowl free every day of the summer.
Anyways this is Beckys little thumb stuck in the ball Yes I am sure she would have preferred me help out but she just looks so cute. She did get it out right after the camera took the picture, her thumb is fine and she won that round
Healthy Foods for Better Learning
The old saying ‘you are what you eat’ may be more correct than most people think. Some foods have been considered to be brain foods while others are considered to be junk. Now you can choose healthy foods for better learning.
One of the things to remember when it comes to education and nutrition is the importance of eating breakfast. Research has been conducted for many years and the results continue to show how children who eat breakfast on a regular basis consistently score higher on standardized tests. They also exhibit better classroom behavior and experience hyperactivity less often. Children who eat breakfast each school day are also less likely to feel sleepy in class.
Tips to Teach Kids How Not to Be Selfish
Parents have a tough job. They have to provide physically and emotionally for the child, teach them right from wrong, and train them to be productive citizens. Since selfishness isn’t a character trait most people approve of, you may be looking for ways of teaching kids not to be selfish.
The best way to avoid having selfish children is to model selflessness. Be willing to serve others and do so both when and where your children will see you. Shovel snow for an elderly neighbor, serve meals at a homeless shelter, or deliver meals to the elderly or housebound. Encourage your children to join you as you reach out to others.
Fun Summer Outdoor Games for Children
if you are like me, you want your children to be active and have fun during the months they’re off of school. You probably don’t want them stuck in front of a television or computer screen for three months. These fun summer outdoor games for children may encourage your child to get outside and have fun rather than staying inside for summer vacation.
Think back to when you were a child. Most likely you spent a good part of your summer playing outside with your siblings. Or you played with neighborhood children who were also out of school. What games did you play? Chances are your children will like them, too.
Fun and Frugal Father’s Day Activities
Father’s Day will be here before you know it. Have you thought about some Father’s Day activities for the family this year? Below is a list of activities you may want to consider when you want to have fun on Father’s Day but not blow the family budget.
When Dad was a child, there were probably games he enjoyed playing. Monopoly, Clue, Scrabble, and Uno are games which have been around for a number of years. Consider having a family game night, being sure to include some of his favorite games. Prepare his favorite snack foods and have fun!
