Children and Organizing Can Mix

A lot of times we begin to organize, with children around it can get tough. They are pulling you in different directions and you get hardly anything accomplished. However, bringing them in on the action is not that hard to do, especially when we are talking about their room or spaces they are in frequently.
I am sure we have all heard label their drawers with a drawing or picture of what goes in the drawer. But why not have them take pictures of their socks for the sock drawer or their shirts for that drawer. They get involved and then want to help out those things in there. And it is their stuff that they have a picture of so it makes a little more sense.
The same idea can work for their toy boxes for smaller collections get a small box or plastic tub and put the picture on that. This way when they are cleaning up their room they can see exactly where they should go.
In the kitchen letting them help you put the dishes or groceries away helps them learn where you want them to go. When first starting out, work on the same type of thing together and this is the plate’s home. This is where the cups live. That way it starts to sink in.
In the living room it’s good to have homes too. Create homes for everything that gets moved. Make a general place for papers to go just in case your significant other or children are cleaning they can just put it there so nothing gets tossed or misplaced. This is a good place for mail when it gets brought in as well.
Their involvement can be small but it can help them learn how to do it and feel more involved with the family.
Good Luck
