Christ-Centered Home

For those that don’t know every Monday we have a Family Home evening. An evening away from it all a way to spend just the family to play a game, have a small lesson, and have some bonding time.

Brendan Praying

I walked in after we were finished and the kids were praying again. He looked so handsome

This evening for our FHE [Family Home Evening] we like many of the families I know had it on the theme having a Christ-Centered Home. It went fairly smoothly I felt a tad bit ashamed teaching my kids this lesson that we should have Christ the center of our home when there are times during the day when I am not allowing Him to be the center of Me. I Did bring up the question, Do you feel like you aren’t allowing Christ to be the center of you during the day even if its for a moment or two? Not to deflect me or my feelings just to bring up the idea that it is possible that it does happen and its OK for it to happen at times.

We discussed what we can do when we notice that this happens and that we shouldn’t stress on it that only makes it worse, a quick prayer and ask for forgiveness then turn your thoughts back to the right way. This was Brendan’s answer. He often is the wise one out of the bunch.  I sat back and smiled and realized that he was right I was sitting there worrying to my self and feeling guiltier and guiltier thinking what would these kids think if I didn’t always have Christ centered in myself during the day? Then he comes out with a awesome answer.

The Scripture for the evening touched me in such a way that my heart just sang.

Acts 17:27-27

27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

Becky made some brownies, we played a game and did a few activities so it was a good evening we all learned something tonight I believe. By the end of the night it was full of smiles and laughter, that is the best way to end an evening.
