Food Storage -Totally Not Prepared
OK I know that most of the members of The Church that I know have a pretty decent food storage, they are stocked for a good amount of time. The prophets have taught us to be prepared for emergencies. Many have their food storage recipe books and toss one or two in during the week so they aren’t surprised with these new meals with the food from the stuff in their stash. Like dried eggs, lentils or canned cheeses and stuff like that. Which I think is totally awesome.
Well here, Totally not prepared. I am fell in love with one of the storage units in our basement because of the shelving units that we have in there its built in shelves that would be perfect for this purpose. At the time I was ready to get started. Well with the move and Christmas it fell to the back burner. This is one of my goals for the new year to get it going and started.
I was talking to one of the ladies from our ward and she is going to have a class that meets once or twice a month and she is going to share how to start and keep it going while actually saving a month all the while using some of the recipes to get use to what is in your stock. She said she has resources to where she can get grains, rice and things at great prices since she buys them in like 100lb bags and she is willing to help and share these with us. I am excited.
I am thinking about getting a food mill Emergency Essentials has a Victorio Hand Grain Mill that looks awesome. It says it grinds from super fine to course for different uses.Plus since it is a hand crank heck burn calories and build muscles.
I think it will help cut down so many costs. I think if I really buckle down I can start and really get ourself prepaired for an emergency.
Do you have a food storage?
