Home and Garden Safety – a Checklist

There are hazards in your home and garden that you might overlook. It’s good to take a fresh look at the home and garden and see what might or might not pose a danger, and how to keep your home and garden safe. Here is a checklist to help you have the safest home and garden possible.

Cleaning Products

Poison control centers receive thousands of calls every year from frightened parents whose children have ingested cleaners. A prime culprit is glass cleaners. Unlike other cleaners, glass cleaners are not required to print warning labels about their toxicity. Just because the label is not there doesn’t mean it doesn’t pose a hazard, though. Make sure all cleaners are kept out of children’s reach.

Signs Signs Everywhere Signs

Yup signs are everywhere we look some good some bad. I am talking about real signs. I found this cool site that has a wide variety of Road Signs called Safety Sign. They have all sorts of signs that can help keep you and your home safe. I personally love the children playing signs, many neighborhoods forget that yes some kids still run around outside playing.

Why Start a Food Storage

Over the last 8 years since I was baptised I have heard about food storage. I knew what we have been told by many of the leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. That we should have a year food supply as well as other essentials. I have wanted to start many times but it never seemed like the right time.

I have read the how to start sites as well as information from the church, even watched a few things oan the BYU channel it all seemed so hard and I thought to myself well why bother? We live in the states and are close to stores if anything happens. I was thinking more along the lines of an emergency like earthquake or something like that.

Food Storage -Totally Not Prepared

OK I know that most of the members of The Church that I know have a pretty decent food storage, they are stocked for a good amount of time. The prophets have taught us to be prepared for emergencies. Many have their food storage recipe books and toss one or two in during the week so they aren’t surprised with these new meals with the food from the stuff in their stash. Like dried eggs, lentils or canned cheeses and stuff like that. Which I think is totally awesome.
