Aromatherapy to Fight Winter Blues

I must say that the winter blues are here in Mommyland, there is little motivation to much of anything. I figured if it is floating around here it may be floating around other lands out there too. So I wanted to share something that has been helping here.

Winter can be a gloomy time. It can feel very long, and the lack of daylight combined with holiday stress can get some people pretty down. What’s interesting is that certain aromas or scents have been known to help lift your spirits during the winter blahs.

21 day Mommy Blogger Weight Loss Challenge ~ Day 1

This entry is part 2 of 2 in the series Cinch Weight Loss Journey

Well I finally got my Cinch Transformation Kit yesterday. I thought hey the perfect time to start on the first of the month. Then Last night I got an email from Dustin Maher the author of Fit Moms for Life. (finishing up that book review coming soon) I read the information he sent me and decided that what I will do is do the work out part from the 21 Day Mommy Blogger Weight Loss Challenge and do the shakes and meal bars for the cinch program.

Vitamin D and Your Mood

Did you know that some health professionals recommend Vitamin D supplements for their patients suffering from depression? It’s especially indicated in the winter, when sunlight exposure is limited or non-existent (your Vitamin Dbody manufactures Vitamin D when your skin is exposed to sunlight). It turns out that Vitamin D may play a significant role in regulating mood.

There have been reports of people experiencing much-needed mood boosts when they take Vitamin D supplements – so many reports that professionals are taking notice and, as noted above, recommending the vitamin to their patients and clients.

I am Getting Fit and Loosing Some extra Pounds

This entry is part 1 of 2 in the series Cinch Weight Loss Journey

So Part of my goals for the year is to get fit and get rid of some of these extra pounds. A couple days later I was choose to do a 4 week review a product from Shaklee called Cinch, this is a system That will help loose weight while helping build muscle. The Cinch Inch Loss Plan is designed for real life, so it also addresses the physical and emotional challenges that come along with your weight control efforts. With proprietary formulas, the Cinch products will help you control your hunger, boost your energy, and keep you feeling satisfied. After reading that part about the program I knew this was something that I had to try.

Natural Anti-Depressants

I have shared my experiences before with bi-polar along with SAD and my ways to find new ways to face the way it goes naturally, I thought others may be experiencing the same sorts of things. Here is what some research has come up with.

It’s not unusual for people to feel a little down now and again. If you’ve been feeling down more often than usual you’ll want to talk with a doctor before taking any natural or prescription remedies to combat depression. While a doctor may give you a prescription, there are also some natural anti-depressants you can try.

How to Throw a Halloween Party for Adults

Everyone enjoys a good Halloween party but when it comes down to it bad food, drinks, or a lame theme can be a deal breaker. So in order to get your guests excited about your next Halloween party, be sure to impress them with these few simple tricks that will have them coming back year after year.

When people arrive at a party they generally are looking to eat, drink, and be merry, so make it a point to have good food at your party. Themed food ideas will have your guests in shock and awe when they arrive. Imagine the squealing of disgust and intrigue when your guests discover a bowl of worms on the table ready for eating. With a little gelatin, food coloring and flexible straws, you can make these worms yourself.

First Aid Kit Essential Checklist

It is important to be prepared for whatever life throws at you. One way you can do this is to have a well-stocked first aid kit. Emergencies come in all sizes from your child falling off a bike, stepping on glass,  or even getting stung by a bee. You can buy a first aid kit or build your own. Just remember that often times we go through the items and forget to refill it. What we do is keep a list on the door of the shelf we keep the first aid kit on to write down what was used that way the supplies can be added to the weekly shopping list. Keep an eye on expiration dates and refresh them as needed.

Mom, Do You Want More Me Time?

By Aurelia Williams, author of Journey to Joy

Let’s see. You did the laundry, dropped the boys off at Karate and the girls at dance class, stopped at the grocery store for a few last minute dinner items…What’s missing? As you were taking care of everyone else all day long, did you remember to take care of yourself?

I know it can be hard to carve out space for you, since being a mom is a full time job, but taking care of yourself helps you have the strength and energy to keep taking care of everyone else, from your children to the snake your son left in the pocket of his dirty jeans. It’s all part of what I teach my Journey to Joy students. It IS possible to find the time to get what you need done.
