Miniature Golf Fun for the Whole Family

Families these days seem to be drifting apart at an alarming rate. Parents often work overtime or have more than one job just to make ends meet. Children and teens are involved in a myriad of activities which keep the family running hither and yon. Why not plan a weekend of miniature golf? It’s fun for the whole family.

Miniature golf, or putt-putt, was very popular in the past and seems to have fallen by the wayside. Recently, however, miniature golf is making a comeback. It’s a great family activity which can be played year round depending upon where you live.

The Importance of Striking a Fair Balance

Depending upon the age of your children, they may be involved in a myriad of activities. You know the importance of striking a fair balance between allowing children to be involved in activities and having time for the family to spend together. Unfortunately, the children may not agree with your definition of “fair.”

Perhaps your older children are interested in a number of activities. They may want to be involved in baseball, football, soccer, martial arts, gymnastics, softball, basketball, or ice skating. Then there’s band, dance, musical instrument lessons, or voice lessons they’re interested in. Throw in scouting or volunteering and the number of possible ways to be away from home increases even more.

Eight Fun Games for Preschoolers to Keep Them Active

Childhood obesity is a concern for parents and health professionals alike. In an effort to combat it, doctors recommend making sure your children learn to be active at an early age so they’ll continue being active as they age. Teach your child these eight fun games for preschoolers to keep them active.

1. Hopscotch is a game that children have played for years. Draw a pattern of eight to twelve squares on the sidewalk with chalk. The children will place a rock or button in the first square, hop over the square with the rock, and then jump in the rest in sequence. At the end they’ll turn around and return, picking up their rock on the way. They’ll try to get the rock in each square until they get to the last one. They lose their turn if they step in the square with the rock.

You know how being physically active can help you feel better, look better, concentrate more, and be healthier than leading a sedentary life. The same is true for your children. Use hula hoops and jump ropes as a fun way to get you and your children moving at home.

Keep Your Teenager Fitness Motivated

Not too many years ago you could expect children and teens to get exercise during gym class at school as well as spending time outdoors playing or riding bicycles. However, with the popularity of televisions, computers, and gaming systems, children and teens are spending less time in physical activity and more time being sedentary. Your goal is to keep your teenager fitness motivated as they grow.

Everyone knows the importance of maintaining a healthy body, but that doesn’t mean that they do what’s best in order to stay healthy. Quite often this means they’ll sit around instead of being active. They may also eat too much or the wrong foods which leads them to gain an unhealthy amount of weight.

This was before nights where families played games together became known as “Family Fun Night” or “Family Game Night”. You may remember hours spent playing Candyland, Chutes and Ladders, or Sorry. Maybe your family had Operation for when you got older, then you most likely graduated to games like Monopoly or Trivial Pursuit.
