Dealing with Schoolyard Bullies

When your child comes home with blood or a rip on his shirt. He fell down is usually the answer you get when asked what happened. Still there is the lingering thought and wonder if your child is dealing with schoolyard bullies.

boy-bulliedUsually a schoolyard bully is a child, often bigger than their peers, who uses their size as a means to manipulate and take advantage of other children. Often the bully senses the vulnerability of other students and capitalizes on those feelings. They try to gain control of other children by use of intimidation and sometimes violence.

Can My Child Be Getting Bullied at School?

Schools have had bullies since public schools started. Either they picked on the other students because they were bigger, or because they needed to feel better about themselves by putting others down. The problem hasn’t stopped; in fact it has gotten worse in recent years. Often times it takes us parents to notice these things. Schools may be trying but kids are getting smarter and know how to dodge the instances in where they can get in to trouble. You may be wondering if your child could be getting bullied at school.
