Aromatherapy to Fight Winter Blues

I must say that the winter blues are here in Mommyland, there is little motivation to much of anything. I figured if it is floating around here it may be floating around other lands out there too. So I wanted to share something that has been helping here.

Winter can be a gloomy time. It can feel very long, and the lack of daylight combined with holiday stress can get some people pretty down. What’s interesting is that certain aromas or scents have been known to help lift your spirits during the winter blahs.

How a Change in Sleep Patterns Can Indicate Depression

Depression is a common health issue that millions of people around the world suffer from. You may recognize the emotional aspects to the illness, but did you know there are physical symptoms as well? Some don’t realize how a change in sleep patterns can indicate a depression, but it is one of the more prevalent symptoms.

Physical symptoms for depression include having regular headaches or an increase in pain associated with them, back pain, muscle and joint pains, and fatigue or exhaustion. What many people don’t realize is that their inability to get restful sleep, or getting too much sleep, is also associated with depression.

Emotional Freedom Technique

Created by Gary Craig, the Emotional Freedom Technique, or EFT, is a non-invasive procedure similar to acupuncture. The process requires you to tap on specific points of your body with your fingertips. Electrical impulses are sent through your body which enables the body itself to rebalance and unblock the various energies of the body. When verbal affirmations or sayings are added, the results are considered by some to be amazing.

People have been learning and using the Emotional Freedom Technique for a variety of maladies ranging from anxiety to weight loss to insomnia. Yes, it is possible to use this technique if you’re having problems getting to sleep. The process is easy to learn and once learned will take little time when needed.

Stress, Depression, and Exercise

As I have mentioned before that I am Bi-polar more on the depressed side then manic. I went to the Dr yesterday for a check up and all was the same as it has been she did give me something to help me sleep since I haven’t been sleeping. I haven’t been sleeping because of stress from my son. Something that is not much discussed he is also bi-polar and it seems that he has been stuck in a manic/rage state the last few months. We was evaluated and found that he possibly has aspergers syndrome we are looking more in to that with his Dr. So yea things have been stressful here with him and the other kiddos driving me crazy but it will be ok.

What a Week its been

Well so far the week has been crazy, as I have shared before I am Bi-Polar and have been having issues with the depression side of it. Well the Dr adjusted my meds last week which has messed up my sleep pattern for the last week, I have had no energy so its made it hard to do much with the kids.

They have been troopers being such great helpers around the house and letting me nap. I make time to do little projects with them then a little snooze here and there. Having to do the daily stuff has been taking more energy then normal I hope this adjustment hurries up soon.

Spring is Never Comming? Family Update

Well at least here the sun still likes to hide, which has prolonged the cabin fever, depression and everything else that goes along with the winter blahs. Which is why I have been hiding out, not having much energy for much. I amĀ  working on getting the energy flowing with the lack of sun and tons of rain it is making it hard.

We also had a small issue a couple of weeks ago Alin got hit by a car walking to his friends house after school. He is home safe and sound now and even back in school. He got a concision and some bumps and bruises but recovering well. Just so you know sleeping in chairs in a hospital room not comfy at all.

Taking Time to Pamper Your Inner Soul

I am sure you have heard the old saying, If Mom isn’t happy No one is happy. Many times we think of external things that make us happy when we think of this phrase. Or at least our children and spouses do. They may help out around the house a little more or bring home a surprise thinking that will fix everything. Most times it does for a short time.

Men Get Stressed Too

I know this blog is more geared toward moms and women, however I wasted to share this with you because it can be a serious thing too.

Stress doesn’t just affect women. Maybe we seem to be more frazzled by it than the other sex, but they experience stress as well. Men also have to learn to deal with stressful situations before they ruin their health.
