Baby Gourd Rattle

Most people think that baby rattles have to be shiny plastic do-dads with little plastic beads in them. Unfortunately these types of rattles, while bright, colorful and cute, can break, causing potential harm to the infant. Babies need safe toys to play with.

This adorable craft idea will help you make a toy that is colorful, fun, and safe for any baby. The gourd baby rattle is a natural alternative to the many dangerous toxic toys on the market today. And you only need a few items to get the job done:

  • Gourd
  • Food dye/non-toxic paint

Kids Christmas Craft – Snow Globes

Snow globes are everyones favorite to make and receive. These are great gifts for grandparents or for mom or dad. We do these every year for mantel decorations. The kids love creating them and I love seeing the progress each year of their advancement of skill and imagination.

If you want to make your own, gather glass or clear plastic containers, like baby food jars or mustard or mayonnaise jars.? Wash and dry them completely.

Gather small plastic Christmas or winter decorations. Try to find some that float. These add a little fun to the snow globe.

Kids Chirstmas Craft- Cards

Christmas cards are always a great craft.? Provide the kids supplies like construction paper, card stock, scissors, glue, glitter (the bottles of glitter/glue in one package are a very nice low-mess way to dress up a project), pencils, crayons or markers and old Christmas cards. Let the kids use their creative energy to make wonderful handmade cards that can be shared with family and friends. By cutting pictures out of old cards, even the younger children can make something really nice (and recycle at the same time).

Kwanzaa Gift Ideas

Since Kwanzaa gifts are mainly given to children, here are some gift ideas for the holiday.

One of the key components in celebrating Kwanzaa is to recognize one’s heritage, culture and history. To this end, one of the most important gifts you can give a child is a book on African history. This serves to enhance a child’s knowledge on African culture and reinforces the continuity of education as a primary source for every child to understand African values. Along with a book, a symbol of their heritage should also be included. This symbol can be in the form of art, a CD or hand-made beads to invoke a sense of history and tradition.
