My Child Cheats -What Can I Do?

Cheating happens every day. Athletes cheat by taking performance-enhancing drugs. Students cheat on exams and reports. Some executives cheat by ‘cooking the books’ to make their company appear more solvent than it is. If your child cheats, you may be wondering if you should worry since it seems like ‘everyone’ is doing it.

The plain and simple truth is that cheating is dishonest. Cheating allows someone to achieve something they didn’t earn. It also hurts innocent people along the way. Parents may be afraid that if their child begins cheating now they’ll develop a pattern of cheating that will continue into adulthood.

How to Effectively Communicate with Your Child’s Teacher

The new school year is starting very soon, with someone new in your child’s life as well as your own it may be hard to get on the right page. It is a good idea to do it from the start. Since teachers have a lot of influence in your child’s life. And since you two are on the same team in trying to ensure your child is successful in school, it’s important to know how to effectively communicate with your child’s teacher. Here are some ideas you can use to ensure you do that.

Too Sick for School?

No matter how much your child enjoys school, at some point they’re probably going to try to convince you they’re too sick for school. You may not be concerned if this happens once in a while, but when it occurs often in a week or two, you may want to know if something else is going on. As a parent you want to know if they’re trying to avoid something or someone.

Tell Me Thursday 9-17

Tell Me ThursdayYesterdays Wordless Wednesday was an important day here at the Wilson Household. It was taken while waiting for the bus. The bus that was picking up my princess for her first full day of Kindergarten. She was super excited to get on the bus and to go to school.

Brendan was just as excited to show her how things at school work. He was also excited to get to school since his best friend is in his class.

Time has flown by I am totally shocked at the time that has gone by and how they have grown.  Each day is full of learning and getting smarter and smarter. I just hope their enthusiasm about school continues.

Time Management = Team Work

Families these days can be busy. It may seem there aren’t enough hours in the day to do all the things your family wants to do. If this is the case with your family, it might help to know that time management equals team work.

To be sure everyone is able to meet the obligations they have, it’s important that the family work together rather than having the parents doing the majority of the work. There’s an old Scottish proverb that says “Many hands make light work because it is but little to everyone.” This means everyone in the family needs to chip in to get necessary household chores done so everyone can benefit.

Its Almost time for the 2009-2010 School Year

Here we are just a week before school starts. This year is bringing mixed feelings in the house,  Becky is starting, Jeffery is going to the high school.  Brendan and Alin seem to be ok with things aside having to go to bed early. Lots of craziness going to be happening over the next week. From the shopping for clothes and supplies to hair cuts and orientations at the schools. Then there is also the running back and forth between home and the high school for football practice. I know this week will fly by and which brings us even more closer to the first day of school.

Why Good Working Relationships with Teachers Are Important

Teachers are so important in children’s lives. Outside of their parents, teachers may be the adults that have the most impact on our children. This is why good working relationships with teachers are important, for the child and the parent.

The first week of school can be seen as the foundation for the rest of the school year. Teachers are learning about a whole classroom of students at once. Children are learning about the teacher and their classmates. Parents can play a vital role in helping the teacher learn about their child, their quirks, and any learning issues they may have.
