Toddlers Love Crafting
Toddlers are hyper and active little guys, but I think one thing that most toddlers have in common is that they love to make new things. Providing some simple projects can keep their minds occupied while giving them a sense of accomplishment. Crafting can also be extremely helpful in developing hand-eye coordination, fine motor skill and so much more.
What I love about crafting with my toddler is fun and rewarding for both of us. Here are some project ideas that are appropriate for a toddler’s skill level and attention span.
Night Terrors
Imagine This: You wake up to your toddler screaming. You go to her room to find her sitting straight up in bed with her eyes wide open. She’s crying and has a startled look on her face. There’s nothing in the room that should have caused such a reaction, so you assume that she has had a nightmare. But that might not be the case.
It’s possible that your toddler may have had a night terror. These typically occur in children from 2 to 6 years old, and differ somewhat from nightmares. When having a night terror, the toddler is never fully awake and probably doesn’t even know you’re there. She becomes confused and inconsolable, and after you see such a scene you may feel similarly.
Toddlers and Car Seats Not So Confusing
For many parents car seats can be a confusing topic. There are seats that are made for babies, some for toddlers then there is those that are made for both. Then the installation is different for each seat. Adding to the confusion is the car seat laws changing from state to state, no wonder we are all confused.
Lucky for us we have some help. The manufactures of car seats are required to make age as well as weight limits on the seats wehre they are easy to find. Every car seat on the market today has been held to strict governement standards. Getting a free car seat inspection is becoming more avalible to us all, even if you think its right its worth taking in to make sure it is installed correctly.
Toddlers and Long Car Rides
Taking a toddler anywhere in the car is not exactly a fun experience. Long trips are even worse. There are things that you can do to help your trip to be a happy one. I keep a ‘Long Trip Bag’ in the car so if we are out and about and the trip starts to take longer then expected. Breaking out the bag helps calm them down and everyone is happy again.
Toddler Tantrums Oh My
There are few parents have made it through any child’s toddler stage without having to deal with a few tantrums. They are one of the most difficult things mothers and fathers have to deal with when their children are young. It is possible to save yourself a lot of frustration by taking steps to avoid them when you can. They will still occur, but remaining calm can help you put them to an end much more quickly.
Disciplining Toddlers
Yes, toddlers misbehave. This is one of the sad facts of life. You may come across days that it seems they are like this from the time they get out of bed until it’s time to go to bed that evening.
Punishment is ineffective when your child is at this young age. They are not able to connect their behavior to the punishment, which in turn makes them feel as if you?re just being unfair. Now you may be asking ‘How Do I deal with my toddler’s bad behavior’?
Distraction

A lot of parents choose bedtime to read to their children. Cuddling while listening to a story is a favorite way to calm down from a long busy day. Doing this also provides a special bonding experience as well as creates wonderful memories.
It often seems like your toddler is doing nothing but playing all day but in reality he is working hard playing, thinking and trying new things, so by no means does he have a stressful life. He is learning to walk, climb, talk and testing his physical limits and learning new things. This comes with falling down, surprising, hurting and bumping himself over and over every day. Since he does not yet know how to go with the flow and roll with the punches, he tends to be constantly anger or frustrated with himself because of not knowing how to handle this. By the end of the day you end up with a really exhausted toddler. At bedtime things are often crazy because he has things wondering though his head on what he did that day and what he wants to do the next day, this often leads to having a hard time fall asleep.
