Why Start a Food Storage
Over the last 8 years since I was baptised I have heard about food storage. I knew what we have been told by many of the leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. That we should have a year food supply as well as other essentials. I have wanted to start many times but it never seemed like the right time.
I have read the how to start sites as well as information from the church, even watched a few things oan the BYU channel it all seemed so hard and I thought to myself well why bother? We live in the states and are close to stores if anything happens. I was thinking more along the lines of an emergency like earthquake or something like that.
In reality it is a good idea toa have a food storage for when your family may fall on harder times, or if the economy really starts to fall. For us we haven’t had to face these, thank God. It did get me thinking that maybe it is still a good idea to have one for this reason. There are times when money is tight so we are getting the bare miminum and having a food storage we will beable to go forward with things and eat from the food storage instead of having to go without or getting different foods.
So for us this is it. Yes at this point we are blessed to not have to worry about money or anything, but I am sure we all know that anything can happen and it is best to be prepaired now while we do have the money for it. I also discovered that this could very well after we get a better savings so in the end this will be two fold.
I am so glad this co-op is starting this sister is going to show us how and where to get many of the staples of food and cleaning supplies for a lot less then I thought I could. I am also glad hubby is on board to get this going.
I know it is what is the best for us and it is commanded for us to do, from the Prophets, just as they have counceled us to be prepaired.
For us this is one step in the right direction to beĀ self-sufficient.
